Albrecht Durer was born in Nuremberg, Germany, the son of a medieval goldsmith. Before he was 20, he had moved to paint in Italy and was soon regarded as a great renaissance artist. But it was as a fine ‘printmaker that reinforced the ability to reproduce his artwork accurately. His new printing technique established his reputation across northern Europe, and this small 30x20cm 500 year etching, known as ‘Praying Hands’, has been carved, sculptured and reproduced in a variety of mono colours around the world.
Rex Marsden’s oil painting of the ‘Praying Hands’, which is painted over the canvas of an unfinished landscape, has been given a ‘World’ which he claims gives his picture the perception of talking to the creator!
